Now is the Time to Sign-Up for the Old Newsboys Christmas Program!

The Old Newsboys of Flint’s Christmas Box Program is designed to be a safety net to provide gifts to Genesee County children (from birth to age 18 if still in high school) who might otherwise go without.

Enrollment Is Open October 30th – December 22nd, 2017
Mon-- Fri  from  8:30AM – 4:00PM
Closed Between 12:00pm – 1:00pm


To qualify for the program, the parent or legal guardian must:
Come to the Old Newsboys office at 6255 Taylor Drive, Flint MI (Furthest south door on the west side of the building) during scheduled enrollment weeks and hours. We are not able to take telephone or email applications.
*Bring driver’s license or State ID
*Bring their own social security card.
*Bring Michigan Medicaid card for each child or approved eligibility documentation*
*Bring birth certificates or judgments of legal custody for each child

When you arrive
...
*Intake and enrollment entrance is the far south door on the west side of the building.
*All above listed paper work must be provided for sign-up even if your children have received gifts from the Old Newsboys in the past.
*Parents or guardians may be turned away if they are under the influence of alcohol/drugs or are loud or abusive with the Old Newsboys’ staff.
*You may not sign up for more than one similar service agency during the holidays. The Old Newsboys is in a service pool with 11 local holiday package providers. If you appear on one of the lists from another agency, you will be required to obtain a letter of release from that agency.

Eligibility documentation for children not receiving Medicaid:
*Previous Year's Tax Return:  Parents' or legal guardian’s 2016 income tax return must verify low income for your child to qualify. The Old Newsboys uses the same criteria to determine need as the Federal Government.
*Reduced /free lunch acceptance letter from the child’s school

New Michigan Scholarship Database!

The State of Michigan now has its very own scholarship database--compiled of Michigan scholarships--where students can submit a request and get scholarships sent right to their email inbox.  All KHS seniors are encouraged to click on Michigan Scholarship Database Search Request and complete the form!

Attention Class of 2017:  Apply for your Genesee Opportunity Stipend NOW!

2017 Genesee County high school graduates can begin applying for the Genesee Opportunity stipend on March 27, 2017. High school graduates who lived in and attended high school in Genesee County are eligible to receive the Genesee Opportunity Stipend! The stipend can be used toward costs to attend approved colleges and training institutions. Find more details about this significant, one-of-a-kind program and the stipend application at www.geneseego.org. Please share this info with your family and friends.

Tutoring Assistance at KHS on Tuesdays and Thursdays!

The KHS National Honor Society (NHS) members will be available to tutor KHS students on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM starting SOON.  The tutoring will take place in Room 107 (Career Center), and no pre-registration is necessary.  This is a great opportunity for students who need extra help!  Please contact Mrs. Colleen Grathoff (NHS Advisor) at 810-591-5317 if you have any questions.
