Dress Code

For Athletic Awards, Class Day, Honors Convocation, Baccalaureate, and Commencement, the following is required:

  • Every man shall wear a white dress shirt, tie, navy blue or black dress slacks, dress socks and black dress shoes (no one will be allowed to participate wearing blue jeans, tennis shoes, sandals, t-shirts or shorts).
  • Ladies shall wear a white or light-colored dress under their robes and white dress shoes (no shoes without a heel strap). Colored hose are not acceptable, if hose are worn they must be skin colored.
  • Wear lightweight clothing (no shorts!) under your gown. Gowns are warm and you are bound to perspire.
  • Both young ladies and young men shall wear the cap as nearly level as possible. Caps shall be placed upon the head with the longest point to the back. The shortest point in front shall be worn horizontally level, not tipped. The tassel shall be draped over the LEFT temple. Young men shall work the cap firmly from the front to the back of the head, making sure that their hair is entirely concealed in front.
  • NO FLOWERS, JEWELRY OR DECORATION WILL BE WORN ON THE ACADEMIC CAP OR GOWN.
  • Boys shall remove their caps simultaneously when a prayer is offered during Baccalaureate, replacing them at the close of the prayer. Girls should not remove their caps at any time during the program.
